I’ve had this CrackBerry for over 2 years now. I treated myself to this phone on the 27th of August 2011 as a birthday gift. Replaced it with my first BlackBerry, that I got in June 2010.
I still have my first generation iPod nano. 1GB. It still works and it has enough room for all my favorite tunes.
Riz somehow ended up adopting my laptop without me even realizing it. Have had that laptop since July 2007. I never bothered buying myself one again. My cousin got himself a laptop, and then he didn’t want it, so I ended up buying it off him for a ridiculous price.
My point being… I’m not big on technology.
The other day, I noticed that “Oh you can tag people on iPhones just like you can via web”. And I got mocked for having a BlackBerry. Kinda felt belittled. Like I’m from a different generation altogether. Maybe even a different world.
But wait a minute… Isn’t that a good thing?
I’m one of those few who’s not engrossed with having the latest technology. I don’t splurge on material things. Hell yeah I’m gonna brag about this!
I’m STILL from that generation that played in the mud and broke bones when I fell of my bike or jumped off a height from the staircase window (hahahaha I miss that place I grew up in!!!), playing in the mud and roller-blading and breaking windows from playing cricket in the middle of the field.
I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve actually saved up to buy a new phone. Maybe finally upgrade to an Android or an iPhone. And how many times that same money has gone into a better plan… Like a camping trip or a vacation of a sort!
I’m not gonna say I don’t splurge. I will occasionally treat myself to something. It doesn’t have to be on technology though (it’s usually boots by the way *hint hint). I love food. Like… LOVE FOOD! I will treat myself to a rather pricey meal once in a while. Maybe go on a shopping spree. Buy a new pair of sunglasses. Things that I know will last and make me feel happy.
Unlike technology. Your phone freezes or gets a scratch or it falls for the first time a kiss it like a baby making sure there are no dents. It’s just panic attacks or mini-heart attacks.
So yes, I have been looking to get a new phone and I most likely will. But that is not going to stop me from loving nature and wanting the outdoors more than sitting in an office and taking selfie’s (by the way, I thought selfie was inserted as a new word in the Oxford Dictionary? It’s still underlined in red when I type it!) with my new phone!
I’m taking part in the National Blog Posting Month! I’ve committed to posting something everyday till the 30th of November! Hope you enjoy the absolute random reads and would love feedback too! Feel free to drop a comment at the bottom.
