Ni Furahi Day

In Swahili, Furahi means Happy. Kenyans are smart, we started to call Friday “FURAHIday” and it started with this video:

I no longer say Friday… Furahiday sounds so much better. After all, it is a happy day! It’s the end of the week and the weekend begins as soon as you walk out of that office or classroom (for most at least).

Yesterday was International Happiness Day and the United Nations Foundation posted this.

The exiting part is that Pharell’s Happy from Despicable Me 2,

has not only inspired the UN, it actually HAS made a lot of people across the world VERY happy! So happy that they started making videos with themselves and friends in it!

It started with New York on the 10th of March:

And of course Kenyans couldn’t sit back… The plot started in February and this was the end result:

If you can share a little bit of happiness, bring a smile to someone’s face, every single day, that’s all that really matters in a world like the one we live in.

Today Kenya marks 6 months since the Westgate attack. Rather than grieving, say a prayer for the souls we lost and be thankful and grateful for all that you have. And choose to be happy. And spread that happiness around you.
